About Us

Every great idea starts with a need. For Victor Smith, that need was simple, people in our communities deserved better access to quality, affordable spaces.

Born and bred in Waipū, Victor saw first-hand the housing shortages and challenges families and businesses faced. In 2019, he set out with a vision: to create portable buildings that weren’t just boxes, but spaces of opportunity places where people could live, work, gather, and thrive. That vision became Space King.

From our main warehouse in Waipū, we’ve grown to support communities right across the North Island, building cabins, offices, lunchrooms, and wharepaku that are designed to make life easier.

But Space King is more than buildings. Under Victor’s leadership, we’ve become known for giving back, donating whare to those who need them, supporting local projects, and finding new ways to uplift our communities in the North Island. 

Victor is always thinking ahead, dreaming up game-changing ideas that make a difference. From screw-pile foundations that allow buildings to be delivered directly off a trailer, to exploring HomeBioGas systems that bring sustainability into everyday life, innovation is in our DNA.

At Space King, we see every building as a foundation for something bigger, whether it’s stability, opportunity, or innovation. We’re not just providing space,  we’re helping create futures.
